Overview:

Converge is seeking a talented and well-rounded Infrastructure Automation Engineer to join our Managed Solutions Center. This role will be responsible for supporting the business and customers alike. This means leveraging software development and scripted solutions to automate the many tasks required to enable and manage our offerings. The river is wide, but the experience and satisfaction are deep.

Job Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • Openstack development and existing product enhancement projects focused on OpenStack (IBM Power Systems) based multi-tenant, dedicated private, public cloud, and multi-site solutions
  • REST API familiarity
  • Coordinating architecture and dependencies with other teams in a broad technical context, and demonstrating an understanding of the consequences of technological choices within a multi-tenant environment
  • Serving as a internal technical point of contact providing valuable, timely, and accurate technical leadership by sharing knowledge and best practices associated with Linux and OpenStack, but not limited to OS, virtualization, middleware, storage, network, messaging, automation and orchestration.
  • Experience developing automated solutions to deploy infrastructure or applications (Python, Ruby, Node.js, C/C++, JSON or YAML)
    • Both Python and GoLang are highly desirable
  • Understanding and experience with monitoring systems such as Zabbix and Halcyon
  • Interaction with alerting tools such as PagerDuty
  • Develop, test, and maintain scripted solutions as required
    • Python, PowerShell, Bash, and GoLang
  • Use modern development tools and environments (GIT, etc)
  • Implement and practice common DevOps solutions
    • Deploy and schedule with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or relevant other)
  • Infrastructure management and manipulation of geographically dispersed data center environments
    • Historical experience with a public cloud provider is desired.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of OpenStack projects to include; Nova, Glance, Keystone, Cinder, Neutron, Nova-Network, Swift, and Horizon – Nova-Link and/or IBM PowerVC experience highly-desired
  • 3+ years-experience designing, building and maintaining large-scale Open Stack based private cloud environments
  • Strong UNIX/Linux background – AIX experience a plus
  • Understanding of diverse virtualization platforms such as, but not limited to RedHat Virtualization, KVM (and variants), Nutanix Acropolis, ESXi, IBM PowerVM a plus
  • Strong understanding Object, Files Services, Block storage solutions
  • Experience with message queuing systems and relational database management systems experience, especially, but not limited to MySQL, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management solutions such as Chef, Puppet, CFEngine, Ansible, etc.
  • Hands on experience in installing, configuring, and administration of Linux based systems (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Strong understanding and experience leveraging RESTful APIs, and managing infrastructure as code

Desired Qualifications:

  • Individuals with experience working for a managed and/or cloud service provider preferred
  • Public Cloud Industry technical certifications – highly desired
  •  Knowledge of Support Desk Software with awareness of ITIL Service Desk and ITSM processes
  • Time management and organizational skill
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills; be adept at communicating with all levels of technical and non-technical people. Good documentation instincts and clear writing and diagramming style.
