Weekend RN – 6 North Telemetry – Part Time, Third

This is a Contract position in Lexington, KY posted May 7, 2022.

Job Description: Weekend RN 6 North Telemetry Weekly Hours: 24 Shift: 3rd Status:Part Time Baptist Health Louisville has eight Telemetry units in the main hospital: 4 South, 4 North, 4 East, 5 North, 5 South, 6 South, 6 North, and 6 East.

Each unit consists of 21 private rooms.

The staff provides intermediate-level care for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of medical diagnoses such as stroke, COPD, congestive heart failure, and post-surgical.

Each unit fosters teamwork, empowering the RN as care coordinator to meet the needs of our patients.

While each unit has a unique culture and patient population, all are fast-paced and provide high-level patient and family-centered care.

Learning opportunities are new every day on our telemetry units.

New Graduate Nurses are welcome to apply for these units.

Job Summary Registered Nurse implements the nursing process for each assigned to his/her care regardless of age (i.e.

infancy to geriatric) and is responsible for the patients care consistent with the Kentucky Nursing Laws and organizational policies and procedures.

The registered nurse promotes positive patient outcomes and the delivery of quality patient care and initiates change through active involvement in the unit-based and hospital shared governance councils while contributing to a healthy professional practice environment.

National Professional Nursing Standards serve as guidelines for nurses as they utilize critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills and exercise appropriate nursing judgment.

The registered nurse collaborates with the inter-professional team to enhance patient outcomes.

The registered nurse serves as a role model through actively participating in the process of continuous professional development and lifelong learning.

Utilizes the Nursing Process as the framework for providing care.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities The following is a summary of the major functions of this position.

Registered nurses may perform other duties, not specified in this document and specific functions may change as professional practice and standards evolve.

Performs assessment/reassessment 2.

Develops plan of care utilizing appropriate evidence based standards of care.

3.

Provides care consistent with policies, procedures, current evidence based professional standards of practice and Baptist Health Louisvilles nursing mission, vision, values and model of care.

Evaluates patient response to treatment 5.

Applies critical thinking, clinical reasoning, organizational and leadership skills Minimum Education, Training, and Experience 1.

Active Kentucky License 2.

BSN or Nursing Certification required except as noted: Individuals hired as a Staff RN prior to October 1, 2013 are grandfathered and exempt from obtaining a BSN or Certification.

Associate degreed New Graduate Nurses must obtain a BSN by agreeing to enroll in a program within 1 year of hire/transfer and complete the degree within 5 years of hire/transfer.

RNs with less than 5 years of experience as a nurse must enroll in a BSN program within 1 year of hire and complete the degree within 5 years of hire.

RNs with 5 years of experience or greater as a nurse must complete one of the following:(a) Obtain a BSN by agreeing to enroll in a program within 1 year of hire and complete the degree within 5 years of hire or (b) Obtain a Nursing Certification within one year of hire or as soon as eligible to sit for the certification.

3.

BCLS Required within 90 days of employment.

4.

ACLS will be required within six months for experienced staff nurses and within one year for new graduate nurses.
