SHC Development Officer III

Shriners Hospitals For Children

This is a Full-time position in Lexington, KY posted November 30, 2021.

Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center – Lexington, has a unique opportunity for a seasoned fundraising professional, Development Officer III, to lead the local/regional fundraising activities.

The responsibilities include :

  • Develop, build and maintain a comprehensive, hospital-based donor development program focused on major gifts, planned gifts, annual giving and corporate and foundation giving.
  • Demonstrate a solid performance record for closing major gifts at levels of six figures and higher.
  • Demonstrate a strong performance record for building relationships with and obtaining gifts from corporations and foundations.
  • Develop solicitation priorities and donor/prospect visitation schedules for the top level staff and volunteer board members.
  • Initiate, develop, and maintain cooperative relationships with hospital-affiliated Shriners Temples (fraternal organizations), local hospital Donor Development Committee, and within the local community for the purpose of raising philanthrophic moneys.
  • Recruit members and provide staff support for volunteer committees designed to provide assistance and support for hospital fund raising.

Job Requirements:

  • Current full Covid-19 vaccination status required.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience required.  Graduate degree or post baccalaureate education preferred. 
  • Professional development accreditation preferred.
  • At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, with at least five (5) years’ experience working with major giving and annual giving programs.
  • A demonstrable track record of fund-raising accomplishments is essential, including experience in building a major gifts program into a core component of philanthropic activity.
  • Must have experience closing major and annual gifts from individuals, a working knowledge of all planned giving vehicles and prior experience with a Charitable Gift Annuities Programs is essential.
  • Annual giving is a performance metric.
  • Healthcare fundraising and supervisory experience is helpful.
