Security Engineer

Converge Technology Solutions

This is a Full-time position in Lexington, KY posted June 13, 2021.

The Security Analyst / Engineer will assist with all areas of data center IT Security.  The position will require evaluating and responding to potential security alerts and incidents (through vulnerability management, EDR, SIEM, and other sources) as well as design/development of solutions in effort to drive organizational maturity and improve risk posture.


Job Requirements:


The Security Analyst / Engineer will be responsible for daily monitoring/triage of security events, maintenance and maturity of existing solutions, as well as assistance with audit preparation, documentation, and fundamental aspects of information security.  This “Blue Team” role will touch many aspects of information security including, but not limited to Intrusion Detection, Incident Response, Risk Identification and Management, Governance and Compliance, and other projects as they relate to information security.

  • Assist with identification and implementation of technical security best practices and enhancements across the organization
  • Identification and response to security alerts and incidents using existing tools
  • Assist with identification of identifying technical or process control weaknesses and recommend appropriate corrective actions
  • Assist in defining system security architecture for new infrastructure and services with various teams
  • Evaluation of and response to requests for security changes and updates as they apply to both new and existing environments
  • Evaluation (and when approved, implementation) of tools for use within our environment
  • Tooling & Process Automation & Integration across all security and maturity aspects of the service delivery and design work streams.
  • Automate the discovery of new machines in the environment, the inspection of these machines, and the systematic enforcement of security controls and configurations of these machines in alignment to configuration standards.
  •  Lead quarterly audits and ongoing development of security controls
  • Raise awareness of potential security concerns by developing alerting tailored to the system or service in question
  • Identify potential security issues, and work with engineering and operations to ensure secure design
  • Build, design, and training documentation required for each security related projects
  • Discover risks and manage remediation


  • 3+ years of engineering experience within a data center environment
  • 3+ years of engineering experience within a service provider and managed services organization – experience with multi-tenant designs highly desired
  • 3-5 years information security experience
  • Strong understanding of intrusion detection and incident response
  • Ability to identify risks and manage remediation
  • Capacity to understand compliance concepts, understand evidence relevance as it applies to compliance, along with management of evidence for internal and external audits
  • Understanding of enterprise level virtualization platforms
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and methodologies
  • The means to deploy and manage security projects which contribute to identifying, protecting, detecting, responding, and recovering from threats.
  • Ability to review and create security related policies, processes, and procedures
  • Understanding security related standards and protocols (NIST, HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR, etc.)
  • Experience with forensic investigations and proper evidence handling
  • Excellent customer service, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Maintain education to be current with new practices and technologies
  • Working knowledge of IT operations, processes, procedures and ITSM methodology
  • Ability to adhere to change control and compliance policies
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to one of Converge’s offices for team meetings, project meetings or working design sessions


  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience required
  • Security Certifications preferred (CISSP, CCSP, GIAC, ISC, Security+, CCSK, CEH, or similar)
  • Other relevant certifications will be considered

After hours’ accessibility is required for assistance coordinating resources for urgent customer situations as needed.  A cell phone/handheld device allowance will be provided to cover this expense.  Flexible scheduling to compensate for off hours’ work will be provided as appropriate.
