Project Controls Specialist


This is a Full-time position in Lexington, KY posted June 10, 2021.

The Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for leading the project controls processes with the internal project management team to execute project deliverables within budget and schedule.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, implement, and maintain external and internal cost reports, cash flows and forecasts
  • Responsible for schedule management.
  • Responsible for engineering, procurement and construction planning, scheduling, logistics and cost control
  • Analyze project controls reports, present findings and provide recommendations to the project team
  • Ensure project setup in Procore and Vista by Viewpoint
  • Analyze data; review logs; and run reports in Procore and Vista by Viewpoint
  • Set up Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for tracking detailed breakdown of purchase orders or subcontracts with Procore and Vista by Viewpoint
  • Ensure budget tracking against Purchase Orders or Subcontracts in Procore
  • Manage the internal Change Management System
  • Responsible for the review of prime contract and PO & subcontract change orders
  • Report accurate updates to cost reports or forecasts
  • Develop and present a cash flow report
  • Set up Work Breakdown Structure in P6 and/or Microsoft Project scheduling software.
  • Ensure the entry of logic ties within the schedules.
  • Create various schedule reports and determine appropriate reporting format.
  • Consult with project team on schedule progress.
  • Responsible for monitoring resource loading of a schedule.
  • Manage integrated data from one program to another.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality checks and inspections on project controls deliverables.
  • Serves as a point of contact for technical questions from PM’s, PMA’s, Engineers, or Construction staff.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Location: Office base preferred (Lexington KY, Nashville TN, or Greenville SC). Remote work is an option.


  • P6 scheduling expertise required
  • MS Project experience
  • Planning skills and ability to lead planning/scheduling meetings.
  • Experience with pull planning, WBS, bid package and procurement planning a plus
  • Cost control and tracking
  • Earned value analysis
  • Project performance indicators/reporting experience
  • Cost Estimating experience
  • Ability to work independently, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience with Vista by Viewpoint accounting software and Procore project management software

Education and Experience

  • Construction experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years experience
  • Degree in engineering or construction management preferred
  • P.E. or PMP a plus
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Other Requirements

  • Must be willing to submit to a Drug Screen and Background Check
  • Must be eligible for work in the United States.
