Occupational Medicine Specialist

This role is currently remote, but would need to be within commuting distance for the future.

Responsibilities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.

Assist in overall departmental projects and performs related duties as assigned Assists in training and development of new staff to the practice management system and departmental policies and procedures as requested by management.

Responsible for general revenue cycle functions, to ensure efficient use of resources and time Assist to maintain accurate and organized files on billing guidelines for major payers, including employers for applicable services rendered Make suggestions for process and policy improvements to leadership, reporting any problem or issue immediately.

Follows established policies and procedures and follows through with additional or updates policy and procedure development.

Promotes teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision making, working to accomplish team objectives and projects and soliciting feedback about ones effectiveness as a team member.

Assists in overall departmental duties and projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

Identifies trends and issues and advises leadership when trends increase and are impacting claims & cash collections., provides backup examples with clear explanations Completes work logs on a daily basis as assigned and ensures that they are kept up to date Participates actively towards achieving group goals, including meeting accounts receivable targets.

Adheres to any policies of the department and follows direction from Director, and other leadership Researches medical records and financial records to determine the current status of demographic information, obtains information from insured or designated persons as needed for the purpose of sending clean claims to patients and third party payers Review services rendered and code the visit accordingly, ensuring accurate authorization, registration and codes permitted per employer Setup & maintain employer account billing details and special pricing Build and maintain rapport with employers by delivering excellent customer service via phone and email Review past due accounts and reach out to the employers to inquire/collect on balance due Research and resolve employer disputes and billing discrepancies, provide feedback to leadership to resolve underlying issue Research and resolve payment discrepancies and provide feedback to leadership to avoid similar issues Assists with employer/patient requests for medical records information, release based on compliance per local and federal regulations Identify trends or areas for improvement and provide examples/feedback to leadership for remediation Minimum Education and Experience: A high school diploma is required, Medical Billing certificate preferred Prefer 1-year experience within a Medical Billing role Experience working in a fast paced, high volume, customer driven environment Demonstrable use of MS Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) is required
