Associate Design Engineer

Currently we have an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer role open. As a member of the Design Engineering team one will design mechanisms, structures and controls for crane products to meet Link-Belt goals of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Environmental.

Job Requirements:

Essential functions of the position include:
  • Prepare and check complex calculations to determine size, strength or other information limiting or governing the performance and/or design of a new or existing product
  • Prepare and check detail drawings for accuracy and conformance to Link-Belt Design policies
  • Create layouts of new designs or revisions to existing designs
  • Interact with suppliers to obtain component information and establish component specifications
  • Prepare and check engineering orders per Link-Belt Design Policies
  • Review and revise bill of materials as needed
  • Calculate weights and center of gravities for components and assemblies
  • Prepare and review assembly drawings for proper fit, completeness including all necessary dimensions
  • Investigate and design solutions for “sale special” request as needed
  • Investigate field service issues and make recommendations for corrections
  • Support prototype assembly process as needed
  • Support manufacturing areas as needed during assembly, welding and machining processes
  • Resolve manufacturing issues identified by production engineering, material sourcing, welders and assemblers
  • Coordinate the work of other personnel to complete designs
 
General qualifications for this role:
  • 4 year college degree in Mechanical and/or Agricultural Engineering  
  • Minimum of one (1) year of proven design or co-op experience
