APP (Acute Care NP or PA-C)- Pulmonary/Critical Care at Saint Joseph East

This is a Full-time position in Lexington, KY posted April 5, 2021.

CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group is searching for an Advanced Practice Provider to join Saint Joseph Pulmonary and Critical Care Associates at Saint Joseph East Hospital in Lexington, KY.

APP will work with the inpatient Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine Service of the hospital.

Prior experience in pulmonary/critical care is preferred.The APRN or PA-C should demonstrate an advanced level of medical knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.

– malpractice insurancePrincipal Duties and Responsibilities:-Obtain and perform history and physical examinations-Record and interpret pertinent data (i.e., labs, diagnostic studies, discharge summaries, progress notes, etc.)-Write orders under supervision of a licensed physician-Formulate and implement treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and/or attending back up physician(s).-Assess patient for change in status and institute appropriate interventions.

Initiate necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patient.-Participate in multi-disciplinary rounds.-Maintain communication with patients and families regarding ongoing medical care and supportive needs.-Perform technical skills and other medical acts as delegated by the supervising physician when hospital requirements have been satisfied such as central lines, arterial lines and intubations.-Serve as a resource for nursing staff, respiratory therapy and other members of the health care team.-Actively participate in conferences and presentations as well as other staff education including but not limited to quality improvements initiatives as directed.-Perform assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.-Report any unsafe activities to supervisor in a timely manner, including conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees patients and visitors.-Perform other related duties as required.Requirements:Nurse Practitioner requires:
– a current Kentucky RN/APRN license with prescriptive authority
– Acute Care Certification
– At least one year of inpatient medicine or ICU experience preferred.

– BCLS/ACLS required Education: Master’s degree in Nursing.

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner programPhysician’s Assistant requires:
– Candidate must be appropriately licensed as a Physicians Assistant in KY or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of KY as appropriate.-At least one year of inpatient medicine or ICU experience preferred.
