With our combined resources CommonSpirit is committed to building healthy communities advocating for those who are poor and vulnerable and innovating how and where healing can happen both inside our hospitals and out in the community.ResponsibilitiesJOB SUMMARY / PURPOSEThe Team Leaders responsibilities include providing guidance, clinical expertise, mentoring and functional direction to members of the health care team while optimizing available resources to achieve optimal patient outcomes.ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESIn addition to fulfilling the requirements of the job description for Surgical Technician job description, this position will include the following:1.

Prioritizes and directs the workflow and tasks involved in assisting the operating rooms with efficient turnover and will assist with performance evaluations.2.

Tracks instruments needing a rapid turn-over and insures they are delivered to Sterile Processing as soon as possible.3.

Inventories and stocks all supplies and instruments kept in the clean core.4.

Communicates with sterile processing staff and operating room staff regarding the flow of supplies, instruments and equipment.5.

Serves as a role model for students, new employees and non-professionals.6.

Possesses knowledge of procedures and instrumentation and serves as a resource/reference person for other staff.7.

Assists in maintaining instruments and instrument sets.

Work in combination with the RN Team Lead to gather information regarding additional instruments or equipment that are needed.8.

Assists in maintaining and updating surgeon preference cards as necessary.9.

Assists in preparing and planning for future surgery cases.

Informs the RN Team Lead of special supplies, instrumentation and equipment that may be needed.10.

Performs other duties as assigned by management.QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSRequired Education for Staff Job Levels High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technician program required.Required Licensure and Certifications Surgical Technologist certification preferred.Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Two years as a surgical technician required.

Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines, and organizational policies.
