Wireless Network Engineer

This is a Contract position in Lexington, KY posted November 12, 2022.

Description Job Description: Leidos is seeking a Wireless Network Engineer to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team, who will support data system services and operations critical to DISA and Fourth Estate Agencies at Fort Meade, MD.

POSITION SUMMARY: The DES program supports a highly demanding mission and requires support to provide expert technical and professional management support to DISA enterprise Information Technology (IT) services.

You will be working in support of a large and complex IT consolidation, migration, and modernization effort towards a Single Service Provider model that provides sustainment, maintenance, Problem and Change management services to help ensure secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of the Department of Defense networks and services.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
•Must hold an active Secret and ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance.

(US Citizenship required) PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Knowledge of proper procedures, techniques, tools and equipment used to install, maintain and repair wireless communications systems and subsystems.

Knowledge of electronic and wireless theory including digital, analog, and circuitry.

•Implement local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data networks, including wireless networks
•Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and system performance
•Conduct wireless infrastructure technical analysis of compliance.

•Perform Site Surveys to conduct technical analysis of the network and wireless infrastructure at locations worldwide, to record/update system diagrams, rack elevations, and power requirements for network devices.

•Experience performing or can learn quickly through on-the-job training how to do conduct wireless surveys using typical survey tools to determine cell boundaries.

•Installation projects include developing installation plans and/or SOPs to include estimated schedule/milestones.

•Configure and implement wireless data networks based upon the governments performance criteria and specifications.

•Understands National Electrical Code (NEC) 2014, American National Standard Institute (ANSI)/National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70 as it applies to wireless network equipment and installations
•Conduct systems pre-test and acceptance tests to validate the designed performance criteria.

•Provides transition, installation, follow on break-fix support and preventive maintenance schedules.

•Maintenance and transition support to sustain the wireless infrastructure utilizing best practices.

•Analytical – Ability to research, identify and resolve critical problems of wireless communications systems to include troubleshooting for hardware, software or electronic problems.

•Communication – Ability to communicate ideas effectively, to include the preparation of reports and logs.

Ability to listen and understand directions, information and ideas presented verbally and in writing.

Ability to handle a variety of customer service issues with tact and diplomacy and in a confidential manner.

•May require moderate CONUS and OCONUS travel.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelors degree with 2 years of network or telecommunications experience; additional years of directly applicable experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

•Previous experience in networking, IT, or other related fields.

•Familiarity with architectural specifications.

•Familiarity with researching communication networks.

•Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.

•Strong attention to detail.

•Experience with wireless technologies such as wireless access points (WAP).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Experience with DoD network cybersecurity and DISA STIG requirements.

•DoD IAT Level II (Security ) certification or equivalent.

•Additional certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate Wireless (CCNA Wireless); Cisco Certified Network Professional Wireless (CCNP Wireless); CompTIA Network; Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA);Certified Wireless Security Professional (CWSP).

DISADES External Referral Eligible Pay Range: Pay Range $60,450.00
– $93,000.00
– $125,550.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
