Aerospace Embedded Software/Hardware Quality Assurance Manager


This is a Contract position in Lexington, KY posted April 28, 2022.

Archer is an aerospace company based in Palo Alto, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility.

We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

What Youll Do Build, lead and mentor a world class team with expertise in oversight of flight critical software/hardware complying with DO-178C/DO-254.

Oversight of flight software development across products including platform software, flight controls, motor control, battery management, displays, communication, navigation, surveillance and others.

Participate in the definition and documentation of streamlined software development and verification processes supporting the certification of safety critical software/hardware and complying with DO-178C/DO-254.

Author, implement and maintain software quality assurance documentation, processes, and policies, including supplier software quality management.

Lead both the internal software team and external supplier software through Stages of Involvement (SOI) audits 1 to 4 to meet all DO-178C/DO-254 objectives.

Audit software lifecycle data items and participate in reviews of all levels of software/hardware process.

Witness and provide oversight of software/hardware test and conformity activities.

Participate in the resolution of nonconformance, and Root Cause/Corrective Action (RCCA) activities Interface with suppliers to ensure software quality and conformity Interface with certification authorities to support software/hardware certification Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPI), continuously monitor and improve our processes to ensure compliance, and increase safety and efficiency.

Foster team collaboration, promote and support personal development.

What You Need 10 years of experience in a related field, including experience managing teams.

At least a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree.

Hands on experience certifying safety critical software/hardware to DAL-A or B Mastery of the DO-178C, DO-254 and DO-330 standards Hands-on experience through the Full Software Development Life Cycle in the aviation industry Familiarity with diverse tools and technologies used for the development, testing and analysis of DO-178C software Involvement in SOI audits Experience with AS9110 quality system Experience with supplier evaluation and oversight Excellent organizational and communication skills Bonus Qualifications Experience with aerospace systems process assurance to ARP4754/ARP4761 Experience with Supplier Management Leading SOI audits Experience with Agile methodologies Experience with MATLAB/Simulink Experience with modeling tools/certification (DO-331) Familiarity with formal methods (DO-333) Archer is proud to be an Equal Opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
