Medical Assistant/ Rad Tech – Urgent Care Harrodsburg Rd

The MA/RT performs selected treatments, procedures and routine duties under the supervision of physicians and the Practice Manager/Practice Coordinator.

Performs radiographic exams as required with general equipment.

The MA functions as a member of the healthcare team with responsibilities commensurate with training and demonstrated competencies.

Direct patient care is provided to adult patients of all ages.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual’s job.

He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.1.

Effectively communicates with patients to determine changes in health status since last visit, including medications, and records in EMR.2.

Assists in maintaining cleanliness and order in department.3.

Responsible for all records and charting of information related to individual cases.4.

Adheres to dress code and completes all QA requirements.5.

Performs all radiographic exams as required.6.

Collects patient histories and other related information, coordinating and communicating with others as needed.7.

Maintains appropriate and efficient patient flow through exam and treatment areas.8.

Maintains adequate supplies and equipment in exam rooms and other areas as assigned and prepares room after each patient.9.

Assists physicians, ARNPs, and nurses with patient care, exams, tests, and procedures as designated.10.

Accurately obtains and records vital signs, reporting abnormal readings as appropriate.11.

Performs clerical duties as assigned including assembling information for patient education, assisting patients with nutrition and toileting as needed, scheduling, and obtaining insurance authorizations for medications.Key Accountabilities:Image Quality Assurance:1.) Produces quality images for Radiologist review.2.) Prepares accurate records.Quality Control in the Work Area:1.) Must be able to complete QC on equipment.2.) Reports all equipment malfunctions to the proper personnelExecutes Patient Care Duties:1.) Verifies patient name and ID number.2.) Verifies orders 3.) Continuously monitors the patient through the exam.4.) Uses Radiation protection for patient and self.STAR Radiology Information System1.) Selects appropriate encounter number when entering patient orders.2.) Completes EDEPACS Picture Archiving Communication System1.) Properly transmits studyQuality Assurance Related to Patient Care Patient Documentation1.) Obtains patient history through patient’s record or orally with the patient.2.) Respect and collaboration are essential Baptist Medical Associates values.Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.BLS certification required.Basic medical assistant training preferred.Active AART and KROCTwo years of direct patient care experience preferred.Skills and Abilities Required:Physical requirements:Strength Position requires ability to occasionally push/pull and lift objects up to 50 pounds.Manual Dexterity Position requires ability to frequentlyperform moderately difficult manipulative skills such as typing, data entry.Coordination Position requires ability to constantly perform gross body movement such as stooping, filing, etc, and constantly to perform tasks, which require hand-eye coordination such as keyboard skills.

Mobility Position requires ability to frequently move from department to department, building to building, and to sit for prolonged periods of time.

Visual Discrimination Position requires ability to constantly see objects closely as in reading and viewing paper records and computer screen.

Hearing Position requires ability to constantly hear normal sounds with some background noise as in answering the telephone.

Mental Requirements:Concentration Position requires ability to constantly concentrate on minimal and fine detail with some interruption.Attention Span Position requires ability to frequently attend to task/function for more than 60 minutes at a time and to frequently attend to task/function for less than 10 minutes at a time.Conceptualization Position requires ability to frequently understand and relate to concepts behind specific ideas, to frequently understand and relate to the theories behind several related concepts.Memory Position requires ability to constantly remember multiple tasks/functions given to self and others over long periods of time.Communication Position requires ability to constantly communicate verbally and in writing using advanced level vocabulary and advanced writing skillsWorking and Environmental Conditions:Position requires occasional exposure to blood, body tissue or fluids and hazardous material and dust.
