This unit specializes in post-op CABG patients, post-op cardiac surgery, CHF and moderate risk chest pain patients. The population has multiple co-morbidities and complex care. The patient population is transferred from ICU, ED and PACU.Under the direction of Unit Director, Clinical House Supervisor, +/or Designee, provides supervision of workflow and staff for a designated shift in overseeing the efficient functioning of the department. Assures the provision of patient care, by addressing performance, risk management, patient, family and physician issues/concerns as appropriate. Role models caring behaviors in relationships with others.The Charge Nurse is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness. As a clinical nurse, the charge nurse spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.- Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky – Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university. In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, an Associate’s Degree in Nursing will be acceptable for initial hire with the understanding that the individual must be enrolled within 12 months in a Bachelors Degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
