Managed Services Architect

Converge Technology Solutions

This is a Full-time position in Lexington, KY posted June 24, 2021.


As a member of the Converge Enterprise Cloud Architecture Team, the Managed Services Architect will take an active ownership role in the evaluation, design, development, and release of new and existing products across the Managed Services portfolio. You will be responsible for the infrastructure, platform, and subsequent points of integration of various systems and infrastructure components in support of CEC and Managed services.

Responsibility Overview:

  • Define product vision to create differentiators with clear business justification.
  • Serve as lead architect for new offering development and existing offering enhancements with multi-tenant, private, public, and multi-site, API-driven solutions
  • Design technical solutions involving Converge technologies such as virtualization, Compute, Storage, Networking, Backup and Replication. Aid in offering industry expertise and strategic thinking to leadership where it can help drive innovation and revenue in customer-focused solutions
  • Work with engineering team leads in specific disciplines (virtualization, storage, network, etc.) to ensure long-term supportability of new solutions and supporting technologies
  • Strong focus on understanding customer challenges, and how they can utilize Converge services to support their business.
  • Participate in route to market planning with key stakeholders
  • Evaluate costs to measure and ensure profitability and income to the bottom line for each solution offerings
  • Engage in business and technical conversations at all levels of an organization to understand the strategic needs of the customer and provide insight in how CEC solutions can aid in their fulfillment
  • Provide technical sales support on emerging Converge offerings, products, services and solutions with the internal CEC team and customers.
  • Coordinating architecture and dependencies with other teams or practices in a broad technical context and demonstrating an understanding of the consequences of technological choices within a multi-tenant environment
  • Identifying areas for operational improvement spanning multiple technical disciplines interacting with CEC and Converge Practices
  • Working with Converge practices to establish baselines and handoff requirements between practices and managed services
  • Serving as the internal technical point of contact providing valuable, timely, and accurate technical leadership by sharing knowledge and best practices associated with Linux and various public clouds including, but not limited to OS, virtualization, middleware, storage, network, messaging, automation and orchestration.


  • 5+ years-experience designing, building, and maintaining large-scale Intel based private and public cloud infrastructure – hands on experience VMware vSphere required (vCD and NSX a plus), hands on with AWS highly desired
  • 5+ years’ experience architecting, designing and/or implementing networking infrastructures
  • Individuals with experience working for a managed and/or cloud service provider preferred
  • Industry technical certifications such as — AWS (SA, DevOps, SysOps) – highly-desired
  • Experience working in a managed services operations and engineering capacity
  • Ability to articulate the value of technology to a business.
  • Experience in a high availability 24×7 environment required.
  • Demonstrated experience with event monitoring and management technologies
  • Strong Linux administration or engineering background
  • Experience developing automated solutions to deploy infrastructure or applications (PowerShell, VBScript, Python, Java, Node.js, JSON or YAML)
  • Experience with devising, managing, monitoring, and extending solutions for large scale environments
  • Strong understanding of storage solutions including Block, File/NAS, and Object
  • Understanding of diverse virtualization platforms such as, but not limited to VMware, RedHat Virtualization (KVM and variants), Nutanix Acropolis, etc. IBM PowerVM is a plus
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management solutions such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, CFEngine, etc.
  • Hands on experience in installing, configuring, and administration of Linux based systems (e.g., RHEL/CentOS, Debian/Ubuntu, Arch)
  • Foundational understanding and experience leveraging RESTful APIs, and managing infrastructure as code
