Job Title: Customer Service Support StaffJob Status: Non-exempt, Full timeDepartment: Patient ServicesReports to: Customer Service SupervisorDirect Reports: NoneGeneral Summary: Responsible for processing legal documents related to request for itemized statements including certified itemizedstatements for KMSF and UK Healthcare. Handling incoming mail and routing to appropriate departments. Greeting/assisting visitors in a prompt, courteous,and professional manner.Essential Functions:1. Produces certified itemization of patient’s KMSF and UK charges as requested by court, attorneys, or patientsa. Must verify that appropriate authorization is received or on fileb. Must have court requested documents certified by appropriate notaryc. All documents must be scanned into EDM and DMS2. Ensures mail and faxes are delivered to appropriate staff; ensure outgoing mail is handled appropriately and appropriate materials are sent to document imaging3. Promptly and professionally greets visitors and routes appropriately4. Ensures that supplies are stocked accordingly5. Properly documents all inquiries on patient’s account both for KMSF and UK6. Reports trouble with copier, fax, and/or printer7. Management may assign or reassign duties or responsibilities to this job at any time, whether due to reasonable accommodation or for other reasons of business necessity or job improvementEducation: High school diploma or equivalentExperience: Minimum two years of experience in customer service, preferably in the health care industryWork Environment: Work is performed in a temperature controlled, well-lighted office environmentEquipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computer, monitor, mouse, keyboard, fax machine, copier, printer, telephone, etc.Physical Requirements: Job entails sitting approximately 90 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder. Job does not involve lifting or carrying objects of more than 10 pounds, climbing, crawling, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, or any other physically strenuous motions or activities.Mental Requirements: Concentration, comprehension, focus and attention to detailsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:1. Knowledge of medical terminology2. Knowledge of insurance industry and billing procedures3. Knowledge of grammar, spelling,and punctuation for written and verbal correspondence4. Skill in using computer programs and applications5. Skill in conflict resolution6. Ability to handle multiple priorities at the same time7. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction8. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely9.
